How to solve a problem?

To solve a problem, we first need to what the problem is. In other words, what is causing the problem?
A problem can be completely solved if the source of the problem is eliminated.
If a problem doesn't have a source that can be get rid of, then the problem must be solved using your ability.
However, if the problem can't be resolved with your ability, then you need to find something or someone that has the ability to solve the problem.

With today's high technology, it's really hard to tell if you are chatting with a computer or a real person.
However, it is distinguishable. You can tell that you are chatting with a computer if one or more of these thing are happening.
1) repetition of same phrases
2) quick reply
3) irrelevant answer to a question
4) random irrelevant phrases

Google & Stumble

How are Google and Stumble similar?
They are similar in that they both are search engines. They both have a grand amount of diverse websites for users to search for. Also, they are both one of the most popular and used websites by people.

How are they different?
They are different in that the Google offers the users a list of websites related to the searched word, while the Stumble offers the users a specific website related to the searched word. Also the Google lets the users
choose the website they want, while stumble just choose specific website for the users.

To effectively use both sites, I would use Google to search for a specific information I want or when I am doing a project for a specific subject. For the stumble, I would use it when I have a lot of spare time and have nothing to do. It would offer me random websites related to subjects I am interested in and would entertain me for a while.

What criteria would you use to evaluate the authenticity and credibility of the information in a web site?

To evaluate the authenticity and credibility of the information in a web site, first thing I would do is look at who wrote the information. If someone credible, like a college professor, wrote the information, I would believe the information online and assume it's true. However, if someone like an elementary student wrote the information, I would assume it's not true and go to a different web site. Second thing I would do is compare the information with 2 to 3 more web sites. If all the web sites says the same thing, I would trust the information in the web site. But if one of the web site says something different, I would go to more web sites and find out which one is ture. Lastly, I would look at the comments made by other readers or used of the web site. If the comments are positive and the reviews are high, I would trust it. If the comments are negative and the reviews are low, I wouldn't believe it and go to different web site.

Can you believe everything you see or read on the internet? How can you tell truth from misinformation?

Is everything people say true?
No, people tend to lie and doesn't know everything.
This is same for information on the internet because all the information are written by people.People can post online whatever they want, thus, most of the information online are opinions, not fact.Therefore, we should not believe everything we see or read on the internet. For example, most of the teacher do not recommend the usage of www.wikipedia.org because it tends to contain lot of information that are wrong. 



But how can we tell truth from the lies or facts from the opinions?
Well, all the websites ending with .gov, and .edu,. are trustable websites. So, by going to websites such as www.example.edu, you'll be able to find information that can be trusted. However, the sites ending with .com or .net contains trustable information, too. The best way to tell truth from misinformation is by comparing information from multiple source and websites.

How do search engines like Google work? How do they find the web page you want to view?

What are search engines? It's a special web site designed to help people find information stored on other sites.
So how do they work? Search engines like Google are Crawler-Based Search Engines.


These search engines hold an index of a few hundred thousand pages and documents, and received maybe one or two thousand inquiries each day. Today, a top search engine will index hundreds of millions of pages, and respond to tens of millions of queries per day. The search engines "crawl" or "spider" through these web sites and find and list all the web sites including the keyword  the user typed into the search engines.

Are computers magic? Just how to they do the things they do?

No, computers are not magic, they are science. Although it is very hard to believe that human have created this device and that this small device can do incredible things, it's not a magic.
If it's not magic, then what is it?
It's a combination of hardware and software.
It's a combination of control unit, computer data storage, and input/output.
The control unit reads and interprets the instruction in program and controls the actions a computer does.
The computer data storage stores data and information in the form of image, audio, and text.
The input/output helps the computer exchange information with the outside world.
So how do these make the computer work?
People input commands into a computer using an input device, such as mouse or keyboard, and the control unit reads and interprets it and control the computer to follow the command. Then the computer responds to the command with the information and data stored in the computer data storage via output device, such as monitor or printer.

On a daily basis, how many embedded devices do you rely on?

On a daily basis, we rely on more than 10 embedded devices, devices that have been programmed to handle a particular task, without realizing it. For example, almost everyone uses computer, watch TV, talk on the cell phone, depend on smoke detector for fires, use microwave to warm up the food, keep foods in refrigerator, listen to music on Ipod, use printer to print papers, use keyboard to type, use mouse to move the cursor, and use calculators to calculate numbers. As you can see, it is almost impossible to live without and function property without embedded devices. Some people might say we don't need those in our lives. However, people should know that the traffic light is an embedded device. Also, the electric generators are embedded devices.

Now the world and people depend more on embedded devices and can't live without it. The world creates electric from wind turbines, solar pannels and water turbine, which are all embedded devices, and people travel all over the world by airplanes, electric cars, and ships. The embedded devices are improving and developing as the time passes by and will be more useful to people.

What is a computer?

Computer is a very useful device that promotes people lives. Today, the world is almost impossible to function without the computers or any other devices. People use computer to create PowerPoint presentation, write documents, store information, play games, listen to music, watch video, and almost everything that we do in our life. People can go online and search the World Wide Web with a help from the internet. On the internet, people can socialize, search for information, download files or music, read articles, and, basically, entertain themselves. Although computer is very useful and necessary for people, too much of it can be detrimental. Due to game addiction, internet addiction, and/or computer addiction, people spend hours sitting down and using computer and going nothing else.

Scratch Game Review : 10 sec Game

This is a shooting game. It is very easy to play, but you will not be able to play it on your first try because it doesn't teach you how to play it. Even though it tells you to "shoot down all the targets down before the time runs out", it doesn't tell you the controls. By the way, you can go to the title page, the starting page , by pressing ENTER, start the game by pressing SPACE, shoot down the target by pressing S, and move the blue ball with the arrow keys on your keyboard.

When you start the game, you will see the red target. You have to move the blue ball to the target and press S to shoot it down. However, the target can be destroyed by just pressing S anywhere. After shooting down the target, another target will appear. You will need to shoot down all the targets before 10 seconds pass by. However, this game is not beatable because after shooting down 8 targets, nothing happens. Thus, you will not be able to see the ending of the game.

Introduction

Hello my name is Sung Jin Park.
I am currently a senior attening Francisco Bravo High School.
I was born in Korea and I came to the US about 10 years ago.
I can speak Korean very fluently because I speak it more than English everyday.
I like playing computer games but not reading; however, I can finish a book in a day if I like it.
My favorite book is Children of the Rune. Like I wrote before, I don't like reading but I read this book more than 2 times already. Children of the Rune is like Harry Potter but better. It consists of 2 series, the first one is called Winterer and it has 7 books, and the second one is called Demonic and it has 8 books. I would recommend it to you guys to read it but it's Korean and has been translated only into Japanese, Taiwanese, and Chinese.
